NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available on select stations for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , after recent discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable in those games were the number of penalties both committed. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.
But it proved positive to see how Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome that deficit and then direct three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the game by four points.
The Broncos have the defensive player of the year in CB their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver prevailed in that battle.
They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't always sending more than four defenders instead they could position two linebackers in the interior then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.
Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly and new running back their rusher is a guy they believe in. He now ranks fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how Denver represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush and keeps you in positive situations.
This has benefited QB Bo Nix, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, a unique trait, plus he's highly agile.
His strengths are his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, and finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws across the middle or past defenders.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays a lot of poise in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.
When you consistently rush it consumes the clock and makes the defence to be in play for longer, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the area vertically side to side. This proves draining.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for the coach to have a young quarterback who's similar to play-dough. He can truly develop him the way he wants to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
Payton has won a championship and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps make him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and boost confidence.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to be in their division. All they need to do is maintain this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their strength, that is running the ball, and this is precisely what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they're the only team without a win a game.
Ever since the league began tracking takeaways decades ago, the Jets are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate up to their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the West.
It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
