Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
