After enduring heavy downpours that caused flooding across areas in the city, LA is now seeing unseasonably high temperatures for this time of year.
All-Time High Readings
By Friday afternoon, the mercury climbed to 91°F (33°C) in central LA, as reported by meteorologists. This breaks the previous daily record for this date, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was established in the previous year.
"Very warm conditions" were labeled on official graphics for the region.
Safety Alerts
The weather service cautioned that Friday's weather posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their guidance included:
- Keeping well-hydrated.
- Reducing outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day.
- Not leaving children or pets unattended in a hot car.

This dramatic increase in heat follows closely after a massive winter storm that pummeled the region last week. That system unleashed thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow to higher elevations, triggering mudslide risks for millions residents.

Forecast Ahead
Forecasters predict cooler conditions is coming. Temperatures were predicted to drop to around 61°F (16°C) in the city by late Friday.
Several cities that reached ninety degrees were Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Meanwhile, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were projected to see the upper eighties.
Over Saturday and Sunday, downtown Los Angeles can see weather in the 80s, with cooler weather on tap for the start of March.
