Each are being considered with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following Brendan Rodgers' resignation on the start of the week.

McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club

McKenna referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in recent years and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just four games last campaign as they were demoted back to the Championship and they currently sit 12th in the Championship.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the London-born former Irish young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my focus is this week.

"I have a unique job here at a special club. And we're at a crucial stage of the campaign. Anything external hasn't reached my radar."

Context and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and announce what they were, but of course it's a massive football club."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I don't know what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I tackle this job like I'll be Town's coach forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I'll always do my best as long as I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

The former striker represented the Hoops on temporary transfer from the Magpies in 2005, but the former Welsh forward is inclined to finish the current global tournament campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and runners-up North Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and their rivals in November would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of making those, due to a successful European competition performance, should they fail to end up their group runners-up.

Given his present position, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after the European Championship, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the earliest.
