Two Victims Revealed in the Providence Campus Attack as Law Enforcement Continue Manhunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their shooter persisted following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also posted words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male arrested in a search at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause new worry for our city”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering facility on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official told the news agency.

Officers that searched the lodging seized two firearms and magazines when the person of interest was arrested, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, companions, and fellow students and lament the passing of his potential.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the country's seventh most historic university with about 7,300 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents recorded nationally so far in this year, according to statistics. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
